Mountain House Introduces New Camping and Emergency Foods

This summer, Mountain House is giving outdoor enthusiasts exactly what they’re asking for. The go-to brand of foods for outdoor recreation has cooked up several new options: Biscuits and Gravy, Apple Crisp, and the Just in Case…® Breakfast Assortment. All of these options were created in direct response to demand from outdoor enthusiasts and are now available in stores nationwide.

“Who better to ask about the perfect foods to take along on outdoor adventures than actual outdoor adventurers?” asked Reiner Bohlen, Mountain House’s marketing manager. “So that’s what we did. Once we had our answers, we worked to ensure the foods were up to Mountain House standards: the highest-quality, most delicious and most convenient foods on the market.”

Consumer Demanded

In 2013, Mountain House surveyed outdoor enthusiasts to find out what foods they wanted from the brand, and more than 500 people responded. The breakfast winner was Biscuits and Gravy with 73 percent. An overwhelming 90 percent of respondents requested Apple Crisp as a dessert. The Fire Roasted Vegetables and Just in Case…® Breakfast Assortment had been available in 2013 on a limited basis, and due to their popularity, Mountain House is making them available to outdoor enthusiasts across the country.

Convenient and Delicious Food

Like all Mountain House foods, the new options – even Biscuits and Gravy – feature their well-known one-step preparation process. Simply add hot water, stir and enjoy right from the package in minutes. With no additional cooking or cleanup, Mountain House products are the easiest and most convenient meals in the industry.

“We want our products to be as delicious as what you make at home, but without the hassle of pots, pans and cleanup,” Bohlen said. “Simply add hot water and you can spork your way through a hearty and tasty dish in a matter of minutes, wherever your adventures take you.”

  • Mountain House® Apple Crisp: This classic dessert can be enjoyed as a breakfast, snack or by the fire as the perfect finish to a satisfying meal. Mountain House Apple Crisp provides the homemade flavor and comfort you crave at the end of an adventurous day.
  • Mountain House® Fire Roasted Vegetables: The savory, delicious taste of fire roasted red and green bell peppers, corn, and onions with hearty black beans is the perfect side dish for your favorite Mountain House meals. One serving contains 100 percent of your daily Vitamin C requirements.
  • Mountain House® Just In Case… Breakfast Assortment: This 16-pouch assortment includes: Scrambled Eggs with Bacon (4), Scrambled Eggs with Ham & Peppers (4), Granola with Milk & Blueberries (4), and the Breakfast Skillet (Hash Browns and Scrambled Eggs with Pork Sausage, Peppers & Onions) (4).
